***Update: The line of storms is making its way into and across Arkansas. Isolated tornadoes will be possible south of I40. Hail and damaging winds are possible across the Ozarks. More showers with thunderstorms are expected this afternoon/evening with a limited hail risk
Active weather is expected in the next 48-hours including the chance for heavy rain, damaging winds and isolated tornado and…. yes, snow.
The highest risk for severe weather continues to trend towards south Arkansas.
☔️ ➡️ The most likely time for severe storms is between 9-10am but the timeframe of earliest arrival could be 8am and latest it ends is around Noon.
Wind will be a major issue behind this with frequent gusts over 30-40mph.
❄️ ➡️ On the back side of the system, snow is likely. Here’s the thing though… unlike the last big winter storms the temperatures aren’t going to play ball this time and should hold near or above freezing across much of the Ozarks which should limit or even preclude any travel issues. Snow would be around 3am Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
🌪️ ➡️ It’s not a super high tornado risk but early in the spring season there’s enough turning with height for the right environment to exist for a brief tornado. We have daytime in our favor with this one, without daytime heating the instability is cut l down but will be higher farther south and east. Worth noting though there’s at least a minimal tornado risk with this.
This cold blast is short lived and it looks like we’re back to the 60s/70s by Friday.
