This Week: Sunny Start; Stormy Finish

After a chilly start with a few of us picking up a frost, sunny weather will set up for this afternoon into Tuesday.

This is the surface chart for Monday. Notice the high pressure across south Arkansas. That high spin clockwise and will pull up increasingly strong south winds. Some winds could gust over 30mph.

Highs Monday will be in the upper 60s to near 70º.

This is the energy that will drive a cold front into our area on Tuesday. Notice that most of the upper level winds will be passing to our north across Iowa & Minnesota. We’ll have a severe risk but the upper level winds locally do not support widespread severe weather.

Two more systems are arriving late this week on Friday and into Saturday, Expect the upper level winds to be overhead with enough change in wind speed and direction for severe weather including the risk of tornadoes late week into the weekend.

Severe weather risk on Friday. Storms will move off the dryline in Oklahoma and track towards Arkansas.

Severe risk Saturday is similar to Friday, an upper level system will arrive over the weekend and will continue to bring chances for showers and thunderstorms into the weekend and early next week.
